Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About The Program

I haven’t exercised in years, do I have to be fit to start this program?

Absolutely not! It doesn’t matter how unfit you are now. My program is suitable for all fitness levels. A big ethos of mine is ‘slow and steady is key’. 

Fitness should be fun and rewarding, and you should feel good after every single workout. My goal for you is to win every workout, stay in control of your workout, and workout at a pace that you feel comfortable with. Think of the tortoise and the hare. When you keep it at a pace you’re happy with, you build up your fitness levels while still feeling good and in control.

What equipment do I need?

A set of dumbbells and a yoga mat. If you don’t have dumbbells you can use tins from your cupboard to improvise while you’re starting out. Over the course of the program, if you wanted to, you could invest in a kettlebell, a step and a resistance band to keep it fun and varied, although that equipment is not essential.

Will I have to restrict my food?

Absolutely not. I am very against dieting of any kind. On saying that if your overall food intake is way too high, we will need to address that, to get you feeling really good and feeling great in your clothes.

My nutrition program is very much based on eating from all the food groups. The guidelines and meal plans are based on you wanting to live a healthy lifestyle, getting great results, while still enjoying your weekends and living your life.

I have an injury, can I still do the program?

Yes, once you clear it with your doctor. I’m a firm believer in exercising around an injury rather than through an injury or not exercising at all. Just like with life, you have to overcome setbacks, accept the limitations you may have and find a way around them.

Examples of some of the injuries my clients have are knee injuries, hip replacements, shoulder problems, back issues, tennis elbow, neck pain, plantar fasciitis, issues with their achilles tendon… all sorts of issues. 

You know what though? You adapt the workout, you listen to my recommendations and you swap out certain exercises for ones that suit you best. You recognise your injury, take care of it, and do the other exercises that work well for you.

I’m worried I might be too old. Is there an age limit?

My oldest client is 71 years of age and she’s absolutely flying it. You’re never too old to get fit. You do what you can, you take it slow and steady, you adapt what you need to and get on with it. Don’t let fear hold you back. Almost all of my clients are over the age of 40, and the oldest is 71.

What kind of exercise will I be doing?

You are going to get such varied and results driven workouts, that I’ve been coaching for 14 years now. They all involve strength training, cardio and core work. They are fun, to the point, and very results focused. They’re only 30 minutes long. You can do them LIVE with me,  in your own time, or a mix of both.

Will I be coached by Jessica Cooke herself?

Yes. I coach all of my clients and I love it. I’m looking forward to working with you!

How long is the initial program?

Your program is for 12 weeks initially. After that, if you love it, you can stay on as my client for as long as you like.

What kind of results can I expect?

OK here’s the brilliant part! You’ll feel more calm, focused and in control .You’ll feel more productive. You’ll get fit and feel really healthy. You’ll have lots of energy. Your bone density will improve and you’ll build lean muscle mass which means you’ll get a lovely high metabolism. You’ll burn lots of calories at rest and turn into a calorie burning machine. You’ll become more flexible, less stiff and feel more mobile.  You’ll lower your blood pressure and your heart will become really healthy. You’ll feel good, more calm and at peace. What time are the LIVE workouts with Jessica?

7:15am on a Tuesday & Thursday and 9:15am on a Monday, Wednesday & Friday.

Do I have to do the workout LIVE or can I do it in my own time?

You can do them LIVE with me, or in your own time, or a mix of both. I do them 5 days per week. 7:15am on a Tuesday & Thursday and 9:15am on a Monday, Wednesday & Friday. You can do all of them with me, a few of them with me, all in your own time, or a mix.

How many workouts per week do I need to do?

I recommend 3 per week but you’re very welcome to do more.

How long are the workouts?

They’re 30 minutes long.

Are the workouts very tough?

They’re as tough as you want them to be. You’re in control of the pace you set. You can keep it slow when you’re tired and go faster if you feel good. WIN every workout, feel good after every workout. Get sweaty, enjoy it and adapt your pace throughout the workout.

"I am permanently immunosuppressed - because I had a heart transplant in 2016; I take medication to make sure that my immune system does not work properly. If my immune system worked normally, it would reject my

"Before Inspire I struggled finding time for my own self care. As a ex pat Irish family living abroad, we have no family nearby to lean on for any help. I am fortunate to be a stay at home mum while the children are very young. My days were typically dedicated towards taking care of our young family, home and 3 pets. Cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, errands, school runs and Zoom calls. I could only plan time alone for myself when my husband was able to watch the kids on the weekend and that usually meant errands, groceries and cleanup and laundry, definitely no self care there! Where on earth was I going to find time alone for 30 minutes a day 5 times a week? It seemed a daunting challenge.

I even have a basement with exercise equipment but I just never seemed to have time or motivation to use it.

The other big challenge, how was I going to really stick to the program being in another country and a 5 hour difference timezone? Could I manage the live classes, what if I can’t? Would I be accountable for my actions if I was never going to be checked? Lots of questions were going round in my head. Jessica emailed me straight back and reassured me that the program could work for me being as remote as I was, and, she went on to explain that she had lots of past clients returning virtually who had moved away from Galway over the years.

Food and wine are another struggle. I have a bigger appetite as a result of nursing our youngest and I figured I could afford to eat the all the treats, after all, I needed the extra calories. Right? But that is not the case. My main meals were typically healthy, my snacking and the lethal sweet tooth I developed during my second pregnancy were more difficult to address. I had to stop myself eating tidbits/left overs off the kids plates and cut out the "something nice" after dinner with a cup of tea was tough. I love my wine and having a couple glasses here and there midweek to relax after the kids were put to bed was that was another bad habit I had to stop. It was a just a vicious cycle of being tired and drained all the time.

It's become second nature now to get the session done, regardless of how busy and the time of day. I have found though it's so much easier to get a morning session done and cross it off the to do list than to have it hang over you for the day. I have gotten rid of some of the bulky exercise machines that I had gathering dust and dug out my old faithful skipping rope, step and weights.

My fitness levels have come right back. My core has really strengthened and I have finally got some muscle tone in my abdomen, badly needed after 2 Cesarean sections. I have a waist!! My sleeping Is way better now. I notice muscle tone on my upper arms and my clothes finally fit me better again. I was even able to wear a pair of jeans I have had in the wardrobe that I have owned for the last 20 years. My energy levels have improved and the most important thing is that I mentally feel better knowing I took some time out of a busy day to do something for just me. "

Workout time got swallowed by work and other voluntary projects I was involved in - I felt the anxiety build up and knew I had to get back my focus to my fitness and start the day off in a good place.
