Have you ever been through a phase, where you don’t feel good about yourself? You hate what you see in the mirror, you feel fat, sluggish, tired and looking in the mirror gets you down. Even though works going well, and you’re good at what you do, why is it that our appearance can make us feel bad?
We have such a deep rooted sense of self, and when you don’t look like, who you feel you are, it can lead to anger, frustration, and unhappiness.
Not feeling good about yourself affects everything, from your confidence, to how you treat yourself.
Binge eating, binge drinking, not meeting up with friends, having rows with your partner, it can all stem from feeling bad.
The best thing to do when you feel like this, is first off, know that you can fix it, and second of all, come up with a plan. And that’s what I want to do now. Come up with a couple of steps that are going to get you on the right path.
First off, the number one thing you can do for yourself, is to start to exercise consistently. Exercise is the only thing you can do for yourself that will leave you feeling good immediately.
You don’t have to wait for the scales to change, or visible results, your mental health will improve straight after a session. This is the best gift you can give yourself. If you workout, through the bad times and the good, you’ll find that exercise will become your best friend.
To feel good, you have to stop eating the foods that bring you down. Leave them to the weekends if you want to let your hair down, but Monday to Friday is your time, when you really look after yourself.
If you keep tucking into the biscuits you’re not going to want to go and workout. If you drink during the week, you’ll have no motivation to leave the coach, and you’ll crave sugary foods.
It’s a bad cycle, that’ll you’ll only break if you get your Monday to Friday right. Eat healthy, 3 meals, 2 snacks, avoid alcohol and sugar until the weekend, and you’re going to start feeling really good.
No excuses. It doesn’t matter, if you want it bad enough, you’ll find a way. You’ve got to want feeling good, more than you want the biscuits. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.
Workout in a community. If walking doesn’t do it for you, don’t walk. If you hate running. don’t run! Find something that you find bearable and you may even grow to love it. It’ll become your space for you, to catch up with your workout buddy, your trainer, and to spend that time just on yourself, with no other pressure around.
